How this became my thing.
I started as a virtual assistant in 2018, grew an agency, and eventually moved into running operations for a smaller group of clients.
I got to see how much work happens around the work someone actually gets paid to do. The emails, the onboarding, the follow-ups, the remembering where everything lives.
And I liked figuring it out. Give me a process with too many steps and I will absolutely start asking questions.
After becoming a mom, I got a lot more particular about how I spent my own working hours too. If something needed doing every week, I wanted to know whether I really needed to be the person doing it.
That’s still how I approach my business. I use systems, automation, and Claude to make the recurring stuff easier, and I teach other business owners how to do the same inside The Back Office Society.

Finding an easier way
These days, Claude handles a lot of the first drafts and recurring jobs in my business. I give it the context, instructions, and examples it needs, then review what it comes back with.
That’s the part I teach inside the Society. How to make it useful for your business, how to tell when something needs adjusting, and how to save yourself from explaining the whole thing again next time.

- If I’m doing something every week, I’m going to look for a shortcut.
- Your calendar needs to account for your actual life. Pickup, appointments, and the days you have less time all count.
- AI earns its place when it makes something you already do easier. I want fewer jobs on my list, and I’m guessing you do too.
- You’re allowed to ask for help before you’ve spent an entire afternoon trying to figure it out yourself.
